Quite often I get asked why my first Open Garden Weekend is in April. I hear comments like, “The hosta aren’t up yet, are they?” and “There can’t be anything to see in the garden that early in the year.”  Oh, how I chuckle when I hear these comments.  Some of my favorite ephemerals are doing their ‘thing’ early in the spring garden.  This is the weekend to pick out your hellebores, hepaticas, wood anemones, twinleafs, and lady-slippers.
